And here is my take on this weeks sketch

This image in this card is the wooden door digi from Tracy Vinson's "Behold, I stand at the door" I decided to give it a Halloween treatment. I printed the door twice, cut them out and layered the frame on with little foam pads. The vines around the door are pieces of a curly willow tree that I kept just for embellishments sake. They were pretty dried out so I soaked them in water an hour or so. I actually got them to "keep shape " by weaving them onto a frame made out of small finishing nails. I put a copy of the door onto a wood block and then placed the nails around where I thought they could hold the vines. Worked out pretty well. After 24 hrs of drying I was able to remove them and glue them onto the door. As if that wasn't enough work, I decided the door needed orange lights! ( of all things )..... The lights were made by stringing  tiny orange seed beads onto clear thread and then gluing them in intervals with a dab of crazy glue gel. They were then strung among the vines. And what self-respecting Halloween door wouldn't be complete without some cob webs. Now mind you I used to have a bag of this stuff (SOMEWHERE) from last years card crafting. Do you think I could find the daNG THING? (nah). So, after a trip to 3 stores ( now mind you this IS August) I finally snagged some at "Party City".

Other supplies pressed in to service were my Tim Holtz brick embossing folder, EK Success bat border punch, Prismacolor pencils/gamsol, ribbon, gem and pearls. The finishing touch was a pumpkin made from Fimo clay. Hope you like it!

Have a great week everyone and come back next week for a look at my first CAS (clean and simple) card.

  2. Okay, Holly, now run that by me again. You should get the AWARD for the most effort put into a card this week. Your explanation of the details are mind boggling. And, the added lights and cob webs were such an excellent touch. My gosh, Tracy will LOVE how you showcased her door image this week!! What clever and brilliant work!!

I'm sure going to miss you guys, but I'll continue to upload my creations and bug you all whether you like it or not!! LOL!!

  5. Holly-Now don't laugh-but I am sure glad you are not a cake decorator....only because your details and eloquent work on this food item would not be conducive to people eating the cake. It would be one of those things where you couldn't eat it because it was too beautiful!!!! lol

I bring this scenario to mind because of all the exquisite details you bring to your cards...it is pretty amazing. You have a knack of thinking outside the box for your embellishments. That is so cool and I truly admire you for that. Your work is amazing!!!
