MMSC66 ENTRY DEADLINE Monday Aug 16th at 5pm PST

This week my card took on a nostalgic theme. When I was little, my Mom and Dad, Grandma Elma and I took the train from Buffalo, NY to Atlantic City, NJ. Just to give you an idea of how long ago this was, there was a lady with caged chickens traveling with us. One of the best things I remember was the Boardwalk! All the sites, smells, the ocean and the Amusement Park! I still can remember the rides and attractions. And yes, there was a "Fortune Teller" arcade game that you put in coins and a fortune came out! Grandma Elma passed away last week at the great age of 100. She was blind but managed to live unassisted in her childhood home till last year.  This card is a tribute to all the good times we shared.

And here is my DT card for this week:
Double click on pic for a more detailed, larger view

The image I foundp on the web. I changed the hue to sepia in PSE and added some stardust stickles for hilights. The DP is Grapfic 45 "On the Boardwalk" The ticket die is a Tim Holtz and the admission stamp is Tim Holtz as well. The flowers ( Wild Orchid Crafts) were airbrushed and given the stickles treatment too. The saltwater taffies were fashioned out of layers of Fimo clay, rolled into shape and baked in the oven. I wrapped each one in waxed paper and twisted the ends. No trip to Atlantic City is complete without salt water taffy! I hope you enjoyed my tribute card to Grandma Elma and hope to see you again next week!

  6. Well Holly, I can see there is some longevity genes in your family. My Grandma was 96 when she passed too! I remember Atlantic City as well and the excitement of the rides and the arcade games. This brings back that nostalgic time with cotton candy and snow cones. Gosh I haven't had either of those in years. What a beauty girly. Just magnificent. I am so sorry to hear about your beloved Grandma. What a wonderful tribute you have created to her memory. Love it.
